Packing Lists

It's Time to Pack for Camp!

BE SURE TO LABEL EVERYTHING WITH YOUR CAMP OR LAST NAME
When you spend 10 days anywhere, you want to make sure you're comfortable.  At camp, that also helps ensure a good night's sleep, clean clothes when you need them, and the best you, you can be for your campers.

Camp Butano Creek is near the ocean; mornings can be cold & damp—drizzle and even rain are a possibility.  Summer days can get warm, especially later in summer.  Please equip yourself accordingly.  For staff there are additional items you might want to bring for Program activities and to have additional comforts.  Be sure to check out the links below.

Experienced Staff Speak Out...
What is a Camp "Must Have"?

A mat for beside my cot... I don't like putting bare feet on a dirty floor.
A tub with all my camp "accoutrements" - it also doubles as a night stand.
Ear plugs! I can't sleep with all those campers/staff without them - every little noise wakes me up.
A toothbrush & toothpaste for my backpack... that way I can brush my teeth at the nicest bathroom on my way to bed.
Thin bath towels - the thick ones don't dry at camp.
A camp chair for each end of camp - it's nice having a chair at campfire!
A fitted sheet - so my face doesn't touch the camp mattresses.
At least 3 sweatshirts - one that gets smokey at campfire and 2 others to wear (I always spill something on one of them!).

Helpful Packing Advice

  • When packing for camp, think about yourself, if you tend to be cold pack extra warm things.
  • Pack enough shirts, socks, and underwear so you have enough for each day and an extra.
  • It is best to bundle outfits together for each individual day, so it is easier for you to get ready in the morning. You can even put a set of clothes (pants, shirt, socks and underwear) in a gallon-sized zip-lock bag and labeled as “shorts & t-shirt” or “long sleeved / long pants”.
  • It is best to put all bottles containing liquid (shampoo, liquid soap, sun-screen) in plastic bags for traveling.
  • While at camp it is easier if you if you have something to carry your bathroom supplies in; mesh bags work well.
  • Attach a packing list inside your bag to help you pack at the end of the session.
  • Write all the mail for your camper's week.  It's hard to find time to write to your camper once session starts.

Do Not Bring:

  • Aerosol cans (e.g. suntan lotion/bug spray)
  • Glass containers (even glass water bottles)
  • Expensive cameras
  • Cellular phones or any electronic device
  • Halters or backless tops
  • Shortie shorts
  • Footlockers
  • Candy, gum or any snacks
  • Socks shorter than crew length
  • Toeless / backless shoes
  • Sandals
  • Rings or other valuable jewelry
