For Parents

Join Our Camp Family!

OUR MOTTO : LIFE IS JUST BETTER AT CAMP!
We know that sending your child to camp is a big step...for you and her.  Most of the staff are parents or former campers and we know how wonderful camp is.  Or we would not keep coming back!  We invite your camper (and you!) to join our Camp Family.  Your camper will come back with more confidence, independence, and songs they will not stop singing!

WELCOME
Camp Butano Creek is owned by the Girl Scouts of Northern California.  Our summer resident camp program is operated by volunteers within the council, under the supervision of council administration. However, campers do not have to be Girl Scouts or even live in Northern California to attend Camp Butano Creek. All girls entering grades 4-12 in the Fall are welcome.

Our program is geared toward promoting self-esteem in an outdoor setting, including hiking, cookouts, campfires, arts and crafts, games, singing, science and nature. With the beautiful Pacific coastline just minutes away from our site, we are able to offer exciting and unique marine activities including: surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding along the beach, tide pooling, backpacking, and field archery. Campers entering 12th grade may enroll in our Counselor-In-Training program, and campers entering 11th grade can sign up for this program's wait list and will be placed as space permits starting February 1st of each year.

WHO ARE THE STAFF?
Our camp staff members are caring, enthusiastic, well-trained adult volunteers, including troop leaders, parents, creative adults and specially-trained young adults. Many of them are full-time employees in other jobs, but they save up their vacation time to be at camp because they love to be here.  Our counselor-to-camper ratio averages one to five.
